(Latsch) - Latsch lies in the heart of the Vinschgau Valley, Europe's
orchard, between the Ortles and the Ötztaler Alps, near the Stilfs
National Park and Meran (25 km). The Latsch area has the largest number
of fortresses and castles in the whole valley. It is also considered
one of the sunniest areas of South Tyrol and the town with the highest
per-capita production of fruit. The local inhabitants are proud of their land, but they do not like to speak much about it. They are reserved and peaceful people that welcome guests with warm-hearted hospitality. There are many trails for marvellous excursions leading you into the heart of the Alps. Traditional inns and taverns serve delicious local specialties. A unique opportunity to seek mountain dairy farms, walk along the "Waalwege", the trails along the ancient irrigation channels or discover monuments of great historical and cultural interest. |
